Welcome to another new and exciting school year!  Please take note of the following information below to better prepare you for the start of our 2022-23 school year and feel free to contact our school office at 541-451-8487 for questions or further clarification.  The school day is 7:25 – 2:10 M, T, Th, F with a release of 12:10 on Wednesday.

Open House:  Pioneer Open House (1st-6th) will be on Tuesday, September 6 from 9 am – 3 pm, with a free lunch from 11am – 12pm.  You are welcome to bring your child and meet his/her teacher, visit the classroom, and drop off supplies.  There will be time for you to tour the school, meet new staff, fill out any registration information or paperwork you may have missed, and ask questions.  School begins on Wednesday, September 7th for grades 1st-6th and will be a full day.  Class lists will be shared at Open House when you arrive or feel free to call our office beginning Thursday, September 1st.

Pioneer School Handbook:  At Open House, we will have the district’s parent handbook available, which outlines the policies that govern our school district.  You may access the electronic handbook on our website at  You will also find Pioneer’s calendar on this site, which includes some of the events and activities that will occur during the school year.  There will be an early release every Wednesday at 12:10 pm beginning Wednesday, September 14th.

Preschool:  Our District proudly partners with the Lebanon Boys and Girls Club to host an on-site preschool at Pioneer.  For more information on days and times of operation, please contact the Lebanon Boys and Girls Club at 541-258-7105.

Kindergarten: Kindergarten students will complete their assessments on August 31st, September 1st and September 6th and will have an Open House Friday, September 9th from 12:00 -2:00.  After all testing is completed, the kindergarten teachers will meet to decide on student placement.   If you haven’t turned in a birth certificate or hospital certificate for your kindergarten student, please bring that to Open House so we can make a copy.  We will also need to have complete immunization information with proof that your child has had all of their first series of shots before students can start school.  There will be a kindergarten parent coffee and tea on September 12th from 8am-8:30am as teachers welcome your child to his/her first day of kindergarten. Kinders will have two days of a soft start with parents picking up at 12:10, Wednesday whole school early release, and then on Thursday, September 15th they will be at school for the full day.

Volunteers: We are excited to welcome volunteers back into our school building following a tough couple of years managing COVID protocols. Please fill out this form and turn it into the office after you have submitted your background check to the district office.

PTC: Pioneer School is looking for families to re-establish our school PTC.   The purpose of the PTC is to support student activities. If this interests you, please contact our school office to learn more.

ParentSquare: You should have received an email with information about ParentSquare from our district in July.  It is our new form of school to home communication, designed to keep parents and caregivers informed and to facilitate participation and engagement with schools. We invite you to download the free ParentSquare app for your phone. In addition, all school/grade level and classroom information will be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text. ParentSquare is so intuitive that most people can use it immediately. However, this quick Getting Started video is a great resource.

Pick up/Drop off: If you are driving your child to school, please use the parent pick up/drop off loop to the North of the building right next to the Veterans Home. If your child will be riding the bus, they will enter from the East main entrance with our walkers. Please call transportation 541-451-8485 with any bussing questions.

We look forward to a new and bright school year!

Mrs. Tonya Cairo
